WHO WE ARE / Investment Professionals

Will Coleman

With a decade of experience in the energy sector, both in corporate and regulatory roles, Will Coleman appreciates the unique complexity that Cleantech startups face. He is a Partner with a particular interest in energy storage, “smart grid”, energy management, de-carbonization, and resource supply solutions.

In addition to identifying new, early-stage investments Will works with many of the existing portfolio companies to help them navigate market and regulatory issues.

“We’ve seen the first wave of venture investing in Cleantech. Some are creating entirely new markets, others are advancing tools and applied sciences to enable innovations across the entire industrial landscape.”

Will began his career on the entrepreneurial side of the equation, building the interactive business for a publishing company in New York. He made the transition to the energy sector in 2001, working with several startups and early Cleantech funds. He helped develop project finance structures for new energy technologies, and worked as the Legislative Director of  REAP (now New Fuels Alliance). Will has also worked for GE Wind in the commercial operations group, Xseed Capital, and on a variety of renewable energy projects in China, West Africa, and India.
