KT Moortgat

As a member of the Mohr Davidow investment team, KT leads initiatives fostering the commercialization of technologies originating in universities and national labs. She sources investment opportunities and conducts diligence in areas of clean technology and life science; including biofuels, diagnostics, mental health, and consumer health. KT supports Mohr Davidow’s portfolio companies through focused projects in product marketing and business development, as well as assists in recruiting young technical talent.

In working with the brightest entrepreneurs and innovators, it’s our priority to help turn potential into commercial reality.”

Prior to joining Mohr Davidow, KT founded and directed the Center for BioEntrepreneurship, at UC San Francisco and the QB3 Institute. The Center grew to be a hub of training, mentoring, and networking for entrepreneurial scientists and clinicians. Its popular programs, including the "Idea to IPO … and Beyond" course, engaged nearly a thousand people annually, and provided mentoring to dozens of entrepreneurial teams. She also was UCSF Director of Business Development, and with the Executive Vice Chancellor, helped build a portal for industry to UCSF and the then-new Mission Bay campus.

She continues to mentor entrepreneurial scientists and clinicians at UCSF and QB3, and is a frequent judge for competitions in cleantechnology and life sciences, including the Berkeley Business Plan Competition, Stanford BASES, FLOW, and the Clean Energy Challenge. She has advised NIH, NCI and NSF on funding entrepreneurial scientists and their innovations.
