Telocity was a provider of interactive online services and content designed for use over high-speed, or broadband, connections to residential markets. The company delivered its services to customers using digital subscriber line, or DSL, technology. Telocity improved the dial-up, or narrowband, experience through faster and reliable services that enhanced Internet surfing, shopping, and communications. Telocity used the technology it developed to deliver services and content over a variety of broadband technologies from a managed nationwide network to and throughout the home. When formed, the company's goal was to become a leading provider of broadband access services, content and home networking services to the residential market. Acquired by DirecTV, April 2001.
