Breaking Network Bottlenecks
ONI Systems provided optical telecommunications systems for metropolitan access, core and regional markets. As bandwidth requirements and the need for offering data optimized services grew in the 1990s, the increasing gap between the available bandwidth between the enterprise and the long haul networks created a bottleneck in metro areas. ONI products broke that bottleneck with optical solutions specifically designed for the metro networks to enable service providers to deploy new revenue generating high-speed data services while supporting existing legacy services By installing ONI equipment, service providers could rapidly build high capacity optical metro networks that were flexible, scalable, and able to support a variety of services on a single platform in a cost-effective manner.
